If you did these 9 things to get high, your teen years were insane

7 things to get high, your teen years were insane

I’ll never forget my wild teen years, and I bet you won’t either.

They say youth is wasted on the young, but I beg to differ. It’s during those formative years that we push the boundaries, live on the edge, and sometimes, do some pretty insane things to get high.

Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not advocating for reckless behavior. But let’s face it – some of us have been there.

So, are you ready to take a trip down memory lane?

Well, if you’ve done these seven things to get high, your teen years could easily be classified as ‘insane’.

Just remember, this is all in the spirit of reminiscing and learning from the past. Because let’s be honest – we wouldn’t be who we are today without those crazy teenage escapades.

Let’s dive in, shall we?

But remember, no judgment here. We were all young and foolish once. And that’s part of what makes us beautifully human.

1. Sniffing glue

Now that’s a phrase that takes you back, doesn’t it?

It sounds absolutely bonkers now, but back in the day, some teens would get high by sniffing glue. Yes, you heard that right – common household adhesive!

The idea was that the chemical fumes could induce a temporary feeling of euphoria or hallucinations. But what we didn’t realize then was how dangerous and harmful this could be.

Inhaling these toxic fumes can lead to serious health issues like brain damage, organ failure, and even death. And let’s not forget the potential for addiction.

Looking back, it’s clear how insane and risky this was. But hey, we live and learn. If you’ve engaged in this activity during your teen years, you definitely were living on the edge.

2. Spinning until you’re dizzy

Now this is a bit less dangerous, but equally as bizarre.

Remember when we used to spin around in circles until the world around us became a blurry whirl?

The thrill of feeling dizzy was a strange kind of high and somehow, it was appealing to us as teens.

I remember one time, I had a spinning contest with my friends in my backyard. We were all laughing and falling over each other, the world tilting sideways in our vision.

It was an innocent, fun-filled moment that encapsulated the carefree spirit of our teenage years.

Of course, the “high” from spinning was just a result of messing with our body’s sense of balance, and it often led to some bruises and grazed knees. But at that time, it didn’t matter because we were young, wild, and free.

3. Sleep deprivation highs

Ever pulled an all-nighter just for the fun of it?

Let’s be real. We’ve all been there.

Staying up until the wee hours of the morning, talking about nothing and everything with our friends, watching movies back to back, or maybe even studying for that exam we’d utterly forgotten about.

The feeling of seeing the sunrise while the rest of the world was still sleeping – it was a unique kind of high, wasn’t it?

The delirium and euphoria that came from extreme sleep deprivation made us feel invincible as if we could conquer anything.

But let’s not forget the aftermath – the grogginess, the headaches, and the inevitable crash once we finally got to sleep. It was a high price to pay for a few hours of feeling invincible.

Looking back now, those all-nighters were pretty insane. But if you’ve experienced this, you can proudly say your teen years were far from ordinary!

4. Chugging energy drinks

Ah, the sweet nectar of teen rebellion – energy drinks!

Remember walking into the convenience store, your eyes immediately drawn to the bright cans promising endless energy and enhanced focus?

We’d chug these down, feeling the rush of caffeine and sugar hit our systems like a freight train.

In hindsight, those energy drinks were our version of liquid courage. We felt invincible, ready to take on the world, or at least pull off an all-nighter.

But let’s not forget the palpitations, the jittery hands, and the crash that inevitably followed. Not to mention, they did no favors for our health.

Yet, we didn’t care.

Because in the moment, it was all about chasing that high. And if you’ve been on this rollercoaster ride during your teenage years, well then, you’ve definitely had some insane moments!

5. Experimenting with household items

Teenagers with an adventurous streak have been known to experiment with common household products, taking them out of their intended context in a quest for novel experiences.

These can range from inhaling aerosol products, also known as “huffing”, to consuming large quantities of nutmeg or even cough syrup.

In their innocent-looking guise, these items can easily evade parental scrutiny, making them perfect tools for rebellious exploits.

However, the risks involved are significant.

Besides the immediate effects of disorientation and hallucinations, prolonged exposure can lead to severe health complications such as organ damage and neurological problems.

This audacious experimentation is a clear indicator of an intense teenage period marked by curiosity, recklessness, and a disregard for potential consequences.

6. Risky alcohol consumption

The next signpost on this wild teenage journey often involves alcohol.

Now, I’m not talking about the occasional beer at a family gathering, but rather a pattern of high-risk drinking that pushes boundaries.

Underage drinking in itself may seem commonplace, but there’s a difference between a sip of wine at dinner and consuming enough to black out. The latter scenario is where the real danger lies.

Why is this?

The answer lies in the developing teenage brain. Alcohol affects this growth process, potentially causing long-term effects on cognitive abilities and emotional health.

This is why instances of binge drinking or consuming high-proof spirits are especially concerning.

Moreover, the thrill of clandestine drinking and the perceived maturity associated with alcohol often mask the reality of its potential harm.

7. Engaging in drug experimentation

Now, let’s delve into a darker side of this high-risk behavior – drug experimentation.

You might think alcohol misuse is the pinnacle of rebellious teen behavior, but unfortunately, it often serves as a gateway to more dangerous substances.

Why does this happen?

Curiosity, peer pressure, or the desire for a more intense high can lure teens into trying drugs.

From marijuana to hallucinogens like LSD or even harder substances like cocaine or methamphetamines, the range of drugs experimented with can be alarmingly broad.

If you found yourself dabbling in these during your teenage years, you were undoubtedly living on the edge.

The risks associated with drug use are vast and varied, impacting physical health, and mental well-being, and potentially leading to legal consequences.

8. Starvation highs

This one’s a bit more serious, and I want you to know – if you’ve been there, you’re not alone.

Some of us, in our quest for a different kind of high, would skip meals. The light-headedness and sense of detachment that came from not eating was like an escape from reality.

It was a dangerous game to play though, messing with our bodies like that. Starvation can lead to serious health issues – malnutrition, weakened immune system, and even organ failure.

It’s important to remember that it’s okay to seek help if you need it. We all have our struggles and sometimes those struggles can lead us down some pretty dark paths.

But the good news is, it’s never too late to turn things around.

If this was part of your teen years, know that you’ve come a long way since then and it’s okay to look back and realize just how insane it all was.

9. Choking game

Perhaps the most dangerous and insane way some of us sought a high during our teen years was the so-called “choking game.”

The idea was to cut off the oxygen supply to the brain by strangulation or self-asphyxiation, causing a brief feeling of euphoria or dizziness upon release.

But this “game” was nothing short of deadly, with numerous reports of teens losing their lives in search of this lethal high.

Our brains need oxygen to function properly, and depriving them of it, even for a short time, can lead to irreversible damage or even death.

After all these years, now it’s clear just how far you’ve come and how much you’ve grown since those reckless days.

Was it worth the risk?

If you’ve found yourself nodding along to these signs, chances are, you had some pretty wild teen years.

But remember, this isn’t a glorification of reckless behavior. It’s a look back at the risks some of us took in search of a temporary high.

It’s crucial to understand the gravity of these actions.

They were not just crazy – they were dangerously unhealthy and could’ve had serious consequences.

But here’s the silver lining – you’ve grown since then. You’ve learned from those experiences and hopefully, made better choices along the way.

It’s all part of the journey. The insane teenage adventures have shaped us into who we are today – stronger, wiser, and more resilient.

Now, all you have left to do is to take a moment to reflect on your wild teenage years and remember – acknowledging past mistakes is the first step towards a more balanced and healthy life.
